Reading Ashcombe RFC's programmes: your privacy

The short version

  • You don't need to sign up or tell us who you are to read a programme.
  • We count which pages people read, so Ashcombe RFC can make better programmes. We don't know who you are.
  • We never collect your name, email, where you are, or anything that follows you to other websites.
  • You can stop being counted at any time, with the switch below.
  • Videos and posts from YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok only load if you tap to load them.

Counting your visits

Who's responsible

Ashcombe RFC publishes this programme and decides how its reader statistics are used (it's the data controller). Matchfold, run by Ctrl Digital Marketing Ltd, hosts the programme and counts visits for the club (it's the processor).

For questions about your data, contact Ashcombe RFC directly.

What we count, and what we don't

How many people open the programme, which pages and articles they read and for how long, which links they tap, what kind of device they use (phone, tablet or computer), and which shared link brought them. Clubs only ever see totals.

Sponsors are shown how often their placements were seen and tapped, counted without any visitor number, so they can never be linked to you. We never store your IP address, your location or your browser's details, and there's no advertising and no third-party tracking in programmes.

Raw counts are kept for up to 25 months; after that, only totals remain.

What's kept on your device

No cookies. Just these, in your browser's storage:

  • mf_vid · Local storageA random number for this club, so a returning reader is counted once.Kept: 13 months, then replaced.
  • mf_optout · Local storageRemembers “Don't count my visits”.Kept: Until you clear it.
  • mf_read · Session storageTicks the pages you've read in the Contents list.Kept: This visit only.
  • mf_embeds · Local storageRemembers if you chose “Always load” for YouTube, Instagram, X or TikTok.Kept: 13 months.

If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, we treat it as “Don't count my visits”.

Videos and social posts

Some pages show videos or posts from other sites. They only load when you tap them, because loading them lets that site set its own cookies and see that you're viewing the page. Their privacy policies: YouTube (opens in a new tab), Instagram (opens in a new tab), X (opens in a new tab), TikTok (opens in a new tab).

Your rights

Because we never know who you are, we can't find “your” data to show or delete it; stopping counting is the control you have. If you're unhappy with how your data is handled, contact Ashcombe RFC first, or the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk (opens in a new tab)).
